• Swelling is expected following surgery

• Icing is required periodically for the first 2-6 weeks after surgery

Please do not stop or change any medications without letting the rooms know:

• Mr. Chiu has a designated physician to examine you at the hospital and this physician will manage your medications and any medical problems that may arise.
  
• If you are unsure of any medications, please contact the hospital staff or the rooms.

You may require varying amounts of pain medication for your post operative recovery. This will be ordered by the anaesthetist or physician and supplied by the hospital or local pharmacist. These are prescription medications, and as such restricted medications can only legally be prescribed in certain quantities at one time.

You may require more and if that is the case, you will need to see either the local doctor or make an appointment to see the specialist to obtain another prescription. This is a legal requirement, as medical practitioners are bound by certain rules in the prescribing of these medications. Please contact the rooms if you have any further queries.

• Keep the dressings clean and dry.
  
• Place a large plastic bag over your dressing when you shower or bathe to prevent it from getting wet. Place tape above the dressing/splint to keep the bag in place and to avoid leaking. Though some dressings are classified as “water-proof”, they are not perfect and therefore, care must be taken to prevent leakage of water onto the wound
  
• The dressing should be left intact until your post-operative appointment
  
• Dressings should only be changed by a medical professional, i.e. GP/nurse at a GP practice/specialist.

• 淋浴或洗澡時，請在傷口敷料包上一個大塑料袋，避免將傷口弄濕。將膠帶放在敷料/夾板的上方，確保袋子保持在適當位置上並避免水會滲漏進去。雖然有些敷料被歸類為“防水”性質，但它們的防水功能並不全然完善，因此還是必須注意防止水滲漏到傷口上。
  
• 請保留傷口敷料，在您手術後回診所復診前，請不要移除它。
  
• 敷料只能由醫療專業人員更換，例如：家庭醫生/醫療診所裡的護士/專科醫生。
